In August 2026, new specialized facilities for autism and disability care were inaugurated in different Mexican regions.

In San Mateo Atenco, the municipal DIF opened the Unidad Municipal de Autismo (UMA), the first autism center in the Toluca Valley. Built with a 7.3 million peso investment, the facility is designed to serve approximately 250 children and adolescents through diagnostic evaluations, therapy, and psychological support.

Shortly after, the Governor of Tlaxcala inaugurated the Centro de Rehabilitación, Inclusión y Autismo de Tlaxcala (CRIAT). This center is noted as the first in Mexico to be entirely built, equipped, and operated using state government resources. The project involved a collaboration where the Tlaxcala government provided public investment while Fundación Teletón México contributed specialized expertise. The facility is expected to receive additional support from the federal Secretariat of Welfare.
