The German series ‘Die Zweiflers’, set in Frankfurt, is expanding for its second season. American actress Fran Drescher, recognized for her role in ‘The Nanny’, has joined the cast to play a central character named Melissa. Creator David Hadda noted that Drescher’s background as a ‘Jewish icon from New York’ makes her an ideal fit for the production’s international scope.

The upcoming season, scheduled for release on the ARD Mediathek starting January 15, 2027, will consist of six 45-minute episodes. The narrative will continue to follow a Jewish family, exploring themes such as family secrets, an unsolved crime from the 1950s, and an existential insolvency proceeding at the family deli, while also addressing themes of missed love and new beginnings.

Returning cast members include Sunnyi Melles as Mimi and Mark Ivanir as Jackie Zweifler, alongside Aaron Altaras and Saffron Marni Coomber.
