Poland is expanding its public childcare infrastructure through the opening of new nurseries in various municipalities.

Initial developments included the inauguration of a 5.1 million PLN facility in Niedźwiada Dolna, supported by the ‘Aktywny Maluch+ 2022–2029’ program, and the opening of Reda’s first public nursery on Gniewowska Street, which provides 62 places for children under three.

Subsequent expansions have been reported in the Mazovian Voivodeship, with new facilities in Chlewiska and Orońsko funded via the ‘Aktywny Maluch’ program. In Chlewiska, a facility costing over 1.7 million PLN provides care for 25 children, while Orońsko’s ‘Czekoladowy Krzemisia’ Public Nursery offers 48 places. The ‘Aktywny Maluch’ program has seen 400 agreements signed in the Mazovian region, totaling nearly 630 million PLN, with the goal of creating over 13,000 childcare spots.

In Toruń, Municipal Nursery No. 5 opened on the Jar estate with a 15 million PLN investment, utilizing funds from the National Recovery Plan and European Funds for Social Development to provide care for 121 children.

Further expansion reached Lębork with the opening of its first municipal nursery, Publiczny Żłobek Nr 1, on Emilii Plater Street. Designed for 118 children, including those with disabilities, the facility is part of a pro-family policy to support parents returning to professional activity. Following recruitment, 87 children have enrolled from Lębork and the Nowa Wieś Lęborska commune.
