At CEIP Azorín in Molinos Marfagones, the school implemented early dismissals after indoor temperatures exceeded 27 degrees Celsius in a facility lacking air conditioning. Following Ministry of Education and Vocational Training instructions, the school adapted activities and avoided outdoor physical education to mitigate heat. By late September, tensions escalated at IES Andreu Alfaro in Paiporta. Despite a Labor Inspectorate mandate requiring the installation of air conditioning by September 5, most classrooms remained without climate control, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. Teachers staged protests, noting that students had experienced symptoms such as dizziness and vomiting. While the school reduced class durations to manage the heat, staff criticized official protocols, stating that classes cannot be suspended without a formal climate alert. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-25: IES Andreu Alfaro teachers protest extreme classroom heat Teachers at IES Andreu Alfaro in Paiporta are protesting extreme classroom temperatures exceeding 30°C, despite a legal mandate for the regional government to install air conditioning. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ies-andreu-alfaro-teachers-protest-extreme-classroom-heat ### 2026-09-08: CEIP Azorín implements early dismissal due to classroom heat CEIP Azorín in Molinos Marfagones has implemented early student dismissal due to classroom temperatures exceeding 27 degrees Celsius and a lack of air conditioning. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ceip-azorn-implements-early-dismissal-due-to-classroom-heat --- Cite as: Extreme classroom heat in Spanish schools.
