The eleventh edition of the “Facce da Bronzi” comedy festival, produced by the cultural association “Calabria dietro le quinte - APS”, launched with a national search for emerging comedic talent. The festival, which returned after a hiatus under the artistic direction of Alessio Tagliento, began its selection process in Milan on September 18, 2026.

Following stages in Milan and Rome, the talent search moved to its third and final selection phase in Reggio Calabria on October 9, 2026, at the Cartoline After Club. This stage featured nine comedians from Calabria, Sicily, and Puglia competing for semifinal spots. Calabrian representatives included Francesco Arno, Junior Trunzo (Tinny Foot), and Antonella Pino (Tremendona); Sicilian participants included Massimo Maugeri, Salvo di Mari, Giovanni Merimma (Nonno Melo), and Marco Fontarosa; and Puglia was represented by the trio ‘Stelle Scadenti’ and Gianni Labalestra.

The festival proceeds to the semifinals on October 23 at the Teatro Francesco Cilea, featuring nine comedians and guests such as Rocco Ciarmoli and Paolo Migone. The grand finale is scheduled for October 25, hosted by Gennaro Calabrese, and will showcase six comedians, including winners of other national festivals.

In conjunction with the festival, the Castello Aragonese will host various cultural initiatives, including an urban trekking tour on October 24 and the “Eco-Teatro” exhibition from October 27 to 30. The latter, a collaboration between Adexo APS and local high schools, will feature theatrical sets and artworks created by students using recycled materials, integrating traditional art with virtual reality and video projections.
