The consumer rights organization Facua filed a formal complaint against ING before the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption, and 2030 Agenda in Spain. The dispute concerns the bank’s failure to honor a 10% cashback promotion on credit card purchases of 100 euros or more, which was communicated to customers via email with a validity period through August 28.

While ING initially attributed the issue to an “operational incident” and claimed the promotion was inactive, the bank later announced it would apply the discount. However, ING unilaterally shortened the validity period to August 14. Facua argues that the bank is legally required to respect the original terms and cannot modify promotional conditions to the detriment of consumers who relied on the initial offer.
