Fatal traffic accidents have occurred on the Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway in Vietnam involving passenger buses.

In an incident on September 6, a 24-seat bus collided with the rear of a semi-trailer truck that had slowed due to a tire blowout. The collision resulted in the death of a bus assistant, with preliminary findings suggesting the bus driver failed to maintain a safe following distance.

In a separate July 17 accident involving a sleeper bus traveling from Ninh Binh to Hanoi, four people were killed, including two children. Investigations into that crash revealed severe mechanical failures, including a broken steering system axis that had been repeatedly reinforced and faulty airbags. Authorities have initiated criminal proceedings against the vehicle owner and are calling for stricter inspections of vehicle registration and transport business conditions.
