Two amateur footballers, Ignacio Moreno and Carlos Ramírez, died following a severe vehicle collision on the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway near Palmar de Bravo. The accident occurred when their compact Ford vehicle struck the rear of a cargo truck while the occupants were returning to Atlixco, Puebla, after a match in Tehuacán.

A 21-year-old passenger, Abigail Torres Sánchez, survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and fractures.

Later reports identified Moreno, known as ‘Nacho Porte’, as a prominent goalkeeper who had been called up to the Mexican Street Soccer National Team and had previously trained with youth academies for Pachuca, Club Puebla, and Lobos BUAP.
