The charges stem from a September 13 incident where the defendant, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, struck and killed a 22-year-old pedestrian. Investigations indicate the defendant was traveling at approximately 88 km/h in a 40 km/h zone while performing a “grau,” a maneuver involving riding the motorcycle on only one wheel. The victim was thrown approximately 50 meters and died from his injuries. Da Silva is also charged under the Brazilian Traffic Code for abandoning the vehicle before being located in Rondônia.
