During the night of October 12 to 13, 2026, two separate fatal shootings occurred in Brussels.

In the first incident, a 41-year-old special intervention officer named Nordin was shot in the head in the Jette municipality. The officer, a member of the Anti-Aggression Brigade (BAA), was attempting to intercept a vehicle that had been stolen during an armed robbery in Tubize. Following the pursuit, a suspect was arrested and authorities recovered drugs and three firearms from the stolen vehicle. Investigators believe the incident is linked to drug trafficking, and the case is being treated as murder with aggravating circumstances. Interior and Security Minister Bernard Quintin stated he was ‘deeply upset’ by the death and called for those responsible to face the law. Defense Minister Theo Francken also offered condolences.

A second shooting took place in the Ixelles municipality near the European Parliament buildings, resulting in the death of a man whose identity has not been released. Belgian authorities have stated there is currently no confirmed connection between the two incidents.
