Sources: 18. Developments: 2. FC Barcelona’s basketball section is entering a period of transition marked by a significant roster rebuild and the centenary of the department. Following a defeat in the Supercopa Endesa against Joventut Badalona, head coach Aleksander Sekulic has emphasized the need for improved defensive intensity and energy. The team is preparing for its EuroLeague debut against Anadolu Efes, though the squad faces roster limitations. Tosan Evbuomwan is unavailable, and Yoan Makoundou is expected to be sidelined for approximately one month due to patellar tendinopathy in his left knee. Sekulic has stated the team is a “work in progress” being built for the playoffs. Despite these challenges, Barcelona secured an 89-82 victory against Anadolu Efes in their EuroLeague opener. After trailing by double digits early on, the team staged a comeback led by Darío Brizuela to win in the final quarter. However, frontcourt depth remains a concern; Josh Nebo is now sidelined for two to three weeks with a soleus injury, leaving Olek Balcerowski as the primary available center alongside the previously mentioned absences. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-23: FC Barcelona defeats Anadolu Efes 89-82 in EuroLeague opener FC Barcelona overcame an early 15-point deficit to defeat Anadolu Efes 89-82 in their EuroLeague opener, despite facing multiple key player injuries. 15 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fc-barcelona-prepares-for-euroleague-debut-against-anadolu-efes ### 2026-09-22: Sports updates: FC Barcelona basketball rebuild and Barcelona SC internal crisis FC Barcelona basketball undergoes a major roster overhaul under new coach Aleksandar Sekulic, while Barcelona Sporting Club faces internal discipline issues ahead of the Serie A restart. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sports-updates-fc-barcelona-basketball-rebuild-and-barcelona-sc-internal-crisis --- Cite as: FC Barcelona basketball reconstruction and EuroLeague debut.
