FC Famalicão experienced contrasting results in Portuguese cup competitions during October 2026. On October 18, the team suffered a defeat against USC Paredes in the Taça de Portugal, where a goal by Miguel Moreno secured the win for Paredes.

Later in the month, Famalicão achieved success in the Portuguese League Cup. Following a 2-2 draw against Braga, the team advanced to the semifinals after winning a penalty shootout 3-1. Greek forward Georgios Koutsias was a standout performer, scoring two goals during the regulation period: an opening goal in the 16th minute following an assist from Marcos Peneia, and a penalty in stoppage time to make it 2-1. Although Ricardo Horta scored twice for Braga to force the shootout, goalkeeper Gabriel Cabral played a decisive role by defending three penalties. Koutsias, whose season total reached seven goals following this match, helped Famalicão secure their place in the semifinals.

The loss for SC Braga, led by coach Franclim Carvalho, adds to an ongoing crisis for the club, which has struggled with recent league defeats and a lack of confidence. Famalicão is scheduled to face Sporting CP in Leiria in the semifinals. Additionally, Braga and Famalicão are set to meet again this Sunday for a Primeira Liga match, as Braga seeks to recover from their slump and Famalicão looks to maintain positive momentum.
