This streak included a 3-1 victory over SL Benfica in ‘O Clássico’, a match influenced by a red card for Benfica’s Clément Lenglet. Following this record-equaling run, Porto secured a 2-1 win against Marítimo in the eighth round of the Liga. Farioli praised the team’s resilience after conceding an unexpected early goal, emphasizing the importance of equalizing before halftime. He credited Oskar Pietuszewski with the decisive winning goal and noted the squad's defensive mental strength during the final minutes. Addressing technical complaints from Marítimo coach Mitchell Van der Gaag regarding the pitch slope at Barreiros, Farioli responded ironically, noting that while the field was inclined, it felt as though it were in the opposite direction. Regarding player fitness, Farioli expressed concern over a potential ankle injury to William Gomes. He also reflected on the impact of previous injuries to Samu, noting how the squad has had to adapt attacking methods to compensate for his absence in past campaigns. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-09: FC Porto coach Francesco Farioli reacts to victory over Marítimo FC Porto coach Francesco Farioli discussed his team's 2-1 win over Marítimo, addressing pitch conditions, player injuries, and squad resilience. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fc-porto-manager-farioli-reacts-to-victory-over-martimo ### 2026-09-21: FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli equals club record after win over Benfica FC Porto manager Francesco Farioli equaled a club record after leading his team to a 3-1 victory over Benfica in O Clássico, maintaining a perfect seven-game winning streak. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fc-porto-manager-francesco-farioli-equals-club-record-after-win-over-benfica --- Cite as: FC Porto football performance under Francesco Farioli.
