Following a pre-season camp in Val Ridanna and a series of friendlies, FC Südtirol transitioned into their 2026–27 Serie B campaign. 

On 1 August, the club won a three-team triangular tournament at Bolzano’s Drusus Stadium, defeating Virtus Bozen 3–0 and FC Obermais. The tournament featured the debut of Davide Veroli and goals from Daniele Casiraghi, Simone Davi, and Mixtur. On 7 August, Südtirol secured a 1–0 victory against Serie D side Virtus Verona via a Casiraghi penalty, serving as the penultimate friendly under coach Davide Possanzini.

Südtirol opened their Serie B season at Stadio Druso with a 1–0 win over Virtus Entella. Despite playing the entire second half with ten men after Stabile was sent off in the 44th minute, the team secured the victory through a late left-footed diagonal shot by substitute Simone Davi. The result marked a successful debut for manager Possanzini, while Entella failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage.
