The Felabration festival, established in 1998 by Yeni Kuti to honor the legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, continues to promote Nigerian culture and attract international diaspora tourists.

Pre-festival activities for the 2026 edition included an art competition at the Kalakuta Museum, a dance competition at the New Afrika Shrine, school debates, and a ‘Dress Fela’ fashion show. The main festival, running from October 12 to October 18, is themed ‘Who Are You?’. This year’s event explores the connection between traditional Afrobeat and contemporary Afrobeats, featuring a dedicated space for Generation Z at venues such as the New Afrika Shrine and Freedom Park.
