# Ferencváros club leadership election > Live situation record from CLSTR: https://clstr.news/situations/ferencvros-club-leadership-election > Updated: 2026-10-18T12:00:49.000Z. Sources: 9. Developments: 2. The Ferencvárosi Torna Club (FTC) is preparing for a general assembly on October 27 to elect a new nine-member presidency. Eleven candidates have submitted their names, including the current president, Gábor Kubatov, who has officially entered the race for the presidency. The election process occurs amid discussions regarding proposed Hungarian government regulations intended to prevent conflicts of interest. These rules would prohibit high-ranking state officials and members of parliament—such as ministers, MPs, or party leaders—from holding leadership roles in national sports federations or large clubs with more than 500 members. While the legislation has not yet reached Parliament and is not expected to take effect before the upcoming election, the potential for such laws has influenced club dynamics. In response to these developments, approximately 89 former and current FTC athletes, coaches, and legends—representing disciplines such as football, water polo, and handball—have issued a joint statement of support for Kubatov. The signatories emphasize the importance of club independence and unity, arguing that Kubatov’s leadership has brought domestic and international success to the club. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-18: Ferencváros: Gábor Kubatov enters race for club presidency Gábor Kubatov is running for re-election as president of Ferencváros (FTC) despite proposed Hungarian laws regarding political conflicts of interest in sports.
