The open-source Fermata Auto player, used in conjunction with the Android Auto Apps Downloader (AAAD), allows users to bypass Android Auto’s native restrictions on third-party video applications. This enables the playback of YouTube, IPTV playlists, and local media on vehicle displays without requiring phone rooting.

Subsequent updates have expanded these capabilities, introducing features such as a ‘Continue Watching’ function for Stremio and Nuvio to synchronize playback positions, improved playlist management, and corrected autoplay behavior for YouTube.

Furthermore, Fermata Xtream has been re-released as version 1.0.0. This version features a rewritten codebase intended to improve stability and speed, supports live TV via IPTV lists, and includes an automatic update system for users installing via AAEnabler.
