The cultural contributions of Brazilian actress Fernanda Montenegro have been highlighted through recent commemorative events and upcoming media projects.

Teatro Casa Grande in Rio de Janeiro marked its 60th anniversary with a special presentation of ‘Nelson Rodrigues por Ele Mesmo’ featuring Montenegro. The theater, which has served as a significant cultural and political landmark since 1966, hosted the event for an exclusive group of guests.

Following this celebration, a new documentary titled ‘Fernanda’ was announced. Directed by her grandson, Pedro Waddington, the film is set to premiere at the 28th Festival do Rio in October 2026. The documentary, selected for the ‘Première Brasil: Hors Concours’ category, aims to explore Montenegro’s eight-decade career by combining recent footage of her stage and screen work with intimate, previously unseen family moments.
