The inaugural 28‑minute halftime production at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey blended pop, orchestral and cultural acts. Madonna arrived on a dune buggy in a crystal‑covered Saint Laurent jacket; Shakira opened with the tournament anthem “Dai Dai” in a Roberto Cavalli outfit sewn with 200,000 Swarovski crystals after 120 hours of work, a look she credited to a rigorous fitness and diet regimen. Burna Boy, BTS, Justin Bieber (acoustic “Everything Hallelujah”), Post Malone, Robbie Williams and a 20‑musician Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gustavo Dudamel also performed, with a segment curated by Chris Martin highlighting FIFA’s $100 million Global Citizen Education Fund.

Streaming data confirmed spikes for the featured songs and an estimated 2 billion viewers. The show topped charts globally and raised roughly $100 million for children’s education. Christie’s, in partnership with FIFA and Global Citizen, organized a charity auction of costumes, signed balls and a Messi‑autographed jersey; proceeds will support the education fund. Topps released a limited‑edition NOW collectible card set featuring the halftime artists.

A symphonic concert in Bogotá titled “Gran Concierto Mundialista” showcased over 50 musicians representing national musical identities and referenced the halftime show’s global lineup, underscoring the event’s cultural reach and charitable momentum.

Critics such as Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney, Robert Smith, Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher questioned the length and departure from football tradition, while supporters praised the fundraising success and worldwide exposure.
