Filip Hrgović secured the IBF heavyweight world title by defeating Moses Itauma via a ninth-round technical knockout at London’s O2 Arena. Hrgović, a 34-year-old Croatian fighter, attributed his victory to a disciplined, isolated training camp in Big Bear under trainer Abel Sanchez, contrasting his preparation with the lifestyle of the 21-year-old British prospect.

While Itauma dominated the early rounds and scored a knockdown in the second, exhaustion led to defensive struggles in the later stages. The referee stopped the bout in the ninth round. Following the fight, Itauma required oxygen and was briefly hospitalized before being discharged. Itauma noted he was leading on all judges' scorecards before his body began to shut down, but he praised Hrgović’s resilience and intends to recover before planning a return with promoter Frank Warren.

Following the win, rare footage from 2013 surfaced showing Hrgović sparring with Deontay Wilder. Former heavyweight champion David Haye praised Hrgović as a ‘warrior’ who has overcome a lack of major promotional backing. Looking ahead, Hrgović has expressed interest in a rematch with WBO champion Daniel Dubois or a potential bout against IBF challenger Frank Sanchez.
