Financial institutions in Brazil and Venezuela are expanding the capabilities of artificial intelligence to facilitate digital banking transactions.

In Brazil, Mercado Pago introduced ‘Mago’, a generative AI personal assistant designed to perform tasks such as Pix transfers, bill payments, and investment simulations via text or voice. The company also launched ‘Crédito do Trabalhador’, a private payroll loan service for formal employees available through its mobile app.

In Venezuela, Banco Mercantil updated its AI chatbot, MIA, to allow users to execute Tpago mobile payments directly within the chat interface. The updated chatbot also features a multi-currency calculator that converts dollars or euros into bolívares using official exchange rates.
