The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) has introduced several initiatives to support the audiovisual sector. The agency is conducting a feasibility study to explore residual payment or revenue-sharing mechanisms for actors. This study aims to ensure performers receive a fairer share of economic benefits from the commercial exploitation of their work on television, streaming platforms, and in cinemas.

To maintain industry competitiveness, the study involves evaluating legal frameworks and market practices in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.

Additionally, FINAS announced the opening of the RM15 million Creative Content Fund (DKK) for applications. The fund covers six categories, including international co-productions, support for first-time amateur filmmakers, and funding for veteran artists. The initiative is intended to nurture new talent and meet digital market demands through productions such as micro-dramas.
