Finland secured its first-ever medal at the European Volleyball Championship by defeating Slovenia 3-0 in the bronze medal match. The set scores for the victory were 25-23, 25-20, and 29-27. Key contributors included Nooa Marttila, who scored 19 points, and Luka Martila with 17 points.

Following the victory, player Joonas Jokela expressed disbelief and joy regarding the achievement, noting the team’s progression from the European Silver League to the podium. Teammate Nooa Marttila was named to the tournament’s ‘star six’ for his performance. The historic podium finish followed a challenging tournament path, which included a quarterfinal victory over the defending world champions, Italy. Players Joonas Jokela and Severi Savonsalmi highlighted the significance of the milestone for the national squad, with the team's success also attributed to the leadership of head coach Olli Kunnari.

During the semifinals against France, a technical incident occurred involving a substitution error. After the starting setter Ivanov was injured, he was replaced by Välimaa; however, the change was reportedly overlooked by broadcasters for a significant portion of the set.
