Following a loss at the ATP Shanghai Masters, Italian tennis player Flavio Cobolli was the target of extreme online abuse and death threats directed at his father and coach, Stefano Cobolli. Stefano Cobolli denounced the vitriol, describing it as a ‘plague’ and suggesting it was driven by disgruntled bettors.

Later in the month, Cobolli demonstrated professional resilience by advancing to the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Lyon. His run included a straight-sets victory over Stan Wawrinka and a comeback win against fifth seed Brandon Nakashima. These performances strengthened his position in the ATP Race as he competes for qualification for the Nitto ATP Finals in Torino.
