Directed by Frank Marshall, the film is scheduled to premiere globally on Apple TV on January 29, 2027. Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the album ‘Rumours’, the documentary utilizes new interviews and previously unseen archival footage to examine the band’s fifty-year career. The project features contributions from surviving members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham, alongside archival footage of the late Christine McVie. The film explores the creative processes and personal relationships of the classic lineup, specifically focusing on the period surrounding the 1977 release of ‘Rumours’. Lindsey Buckingham described the production as a “cyclical healing process” for the members following past interpersonal tensions. The documentary’s title refers to the song ‘The Chain’, which is the only track on ‘Rumours’ credited to all five members of the classic quintet. The film aims to examine how the group navigated intense personal conflicts and professional tensions to achieve massive commercial success, including the sale of over 220 million records. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-24: Fleetwood Mac documentary ‘The Chain’ to premiere on Apple TV An authorized Fleetwood Mac documentary, ‘The Chain’, directed by Frank Marshall, will debut on Apple TV on January 29, 2027, featuring new interviews and archival footage. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/apple-tv-announces-fleetwood-mac-documentary-the-chain ### 2026-10-22: Fleetwood Mac documentary ‘The Chain’ set for Apple TV release The first authorized Fleetwood Mac documentary, ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Chain’, directed by Frank Marshall, will debut on Apple TV on January 29, 2027, marking the 50th anniversary of ‘Rumours’. 27 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fleetwood-mac-documentary-the-chain-set-for-apple-tv-release --- Cite as: Fleetwood Mac documentary release announcement.
