Sources: 6. Developments: 2. Flávio Bolsonaro has made several economic and regional development pledges as part of his presidential campaign. In Bahia, he promised investments in the state's development, appearing alongside ACM Neto and João Roma to signal support for the Northeast region. This pledge drew criticism from federal deputy-elect Jones Manoel, who warned that a Bolsonaro administration might “politically persecute” states like Pernambuco and Bahia by withholding federal resources due to their unfavorable electoral configurations for the far-right. Expanding his platform to state finances, Bolsonaro also committed to reviewing and alleviating the debts that Brazilian states owe to the federal government. Specifically, in response to requests from Minas Gerais governor-elect Cleitinho Azevedo, Bolsonaro proposed renegotiating the state's R$ 187.5 billion debt. The goal would be to allow funds to be redirected from debt servicing toward public works, infrastructure, and security through direct investments rather than cash transfers. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-09: Flávio Bolsonaro pledges to renegotiate Minas Gerais state debt Flávio Bolsonaro has pledged to renegotiate Minas Gerais's R$ 187.5 billion debt with the Union if elected, potentially redirecting payments toward state infrastructure and security projects. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/flvio-bolsonaro-pledges-to-renegotiate-minas-gerais-state-debt ### 2026-10-08: Flávio Bolsonaro pledges Bahia investment amid warnings of political persecution Flávio Bolsonaro has promised investments in Bahia alongside ACM Neto, while deputy-elect Jones Manoel warns of potential political persecution in Bahia and Pernambuco under a Bolsonaro presidency. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/flvio-bolsonaro-pledges-bahia-investment-amid-warnings-of-political-persecution --- Cite as: Flávio Bolsonaro presidential campaign pledges.
