The service provider attributed the issues to difficulties in recruiting drivers who met specific technical requirements and qualifications. In response, the administration initially launched an extraordinary recruitment appeal for qualified citizens with Category D licenses and CQC certification. By mid-October, the municipality announced the restoration of regular shuttle services. To ensure reliability, the administration introduced a second shuttle vehicle operated by Golfo Tour to work alongside the existing service. The reorganized plan also includes dedicated staff to accompany children during commutes. Mayor Matteo Buoncristiani emphasized that the safety of children and the regularity of transport remain “non-negotiable priorities.” ## Timeline ### 2026-10-16: Follonica restores school shuttle service with additional vehicle Follonica is restoring regular school shuttle services with an additional vehicle and dedicated staff following recent service disruptions and contractual issues with the previous provider. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/follonica-restores-school-shuttle-service-with-additional-vehicle ### 2026-10-12: Follonica administration addresses school transport service disruptions Follonica officials are addressing school transport disruptions by pursuing legal action against contractors and launching an urgent recruitment drive for qualified drivers. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/follonica-administration-addresses-school-transport-service-disruptions --- Cite as: Follonica school transport service disruptions.
