In late August 2026, Fleischwaren-Wulff GmbH & Co. KG issued a recall for several varieties of Streichmettwurst, including versions with and without garlic, due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

By mid-September 2026, additional food safety recalls were reported in Germany involving Lidl. SB-Convenience GmbH recalled Metzgerfrisch brand bratwurst products, specifically ‘Frische Grobe Bratwurst’ (400g, expiry 15.09.2026) and ‘Frische Grobe Bratwurst XXL’ (1600g, expiry 13.09.2026), because of potential red plastic fragments that could cause injury to the mouth, throat, esophagus, or gastrointestinal tract. Simultaneously, Victoria Nuts Ltd. recalled ‘Deluxe Erdbeeren in weißer Schokolade’ (120g) sold at Lidl after investigations found pesticide levels of chlorpyrifos exceeding legal EU limits.
