Developments: 2. Following an Eccellenza league match between Puteolana and Portici at the Domenico Conte stadium on October 25, violent clashes involving approximately 40 individuals resulted in the critical injury of 34-year-old Portici supporter Mario Spedaliere. The victim sustained a cerebral hemorrhage and skull fracture after being struck in the head with a wooden club or baseball bat, requiring emergency neurosurgery. Authorities arrested eight people, including five adults and three minors. A 19-year-old suspect confessed to the assault but was placed under house arrest due to a medical condition. While the suspect claimed the attack was a reaction to the victim allegedly pointing a knife, investigators stated there is currently no evidence to support the claim that the victim was armed. The victim’s father has contested the suspect’s account, citing video footage that suggests his son was swarmed by multiple people, and has raised concerns regarding stadium security. As of late October, the victim remains in critical condition with a guarded prognosis. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-28: Portici supporter fighting for life after football match assault A 34-year-old Portici football supporter is in critical condition following a club-related assault involving a wooden club.
