Forbes and Statista released the inaugural ‘World’s Top-Performing Banks 2026’ ranking, which evaluated 500 global institutions across various categories based on profitability, growth, asset quality, efficiency, and capital resilience.

Initial reports highlighted OTP Grupa as the highest-ranked European bank in the large bank category, securing 10th place globally. BKS Bank was also recognized within the ‘lower mid-sized banks’ category. 

Subsequent details regarding the rankings noted that Bank of Cyprus was ranked 19th among 102 medium-sized banks globally, placing it in the Tier 4 category for institutions with assets between $20 billion and $50 billion. Bank of Cyprus was the only Cypriot bank included in the assessment.
