Sources: 13. Developments: 2. Formosa Governor Gildo Insfrán has engaged in efforts to manage regional border relations and security. On September 16, Insfrán led a delegation to Asunción, Paraguay, for a Border Integration Committee meeting. The discussions focused on strengthening ties through specific border crossings, such as Puerto Falcón – Clorinda and Alberdi – Formosa Capital, with an emphasis on infrastructure, trade, and security. By late September, the focus shifted toward domestic political tensions regarding border management. During a centennial celebration in Laguna Naineck, Insfrán criticized the national administration under Javier Milei, claiming the state has “abandoned the province.” The governor emphasized provincial autonomy, asserting that political alternation is decided by the people of Formosa rather than by interests in Buenos Aires. He specifically raised concerns about border security, arguing that a lack of federal reinforcement along the 800-kilometer border creates “territorial vacuums” that could facilitate smuggling and drug trafficking. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: Gildo Insfrán criticizes national government during Laguna Naineck centenary Formosa Governor Gildo Insfrán criticized President Javier Milei's administration during Laguna Naineck's centenary, alleging the province has been abandoned and borders left unprotected. 11 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/gildo-insfrn-criticizes-national-government-in-formosa ### 2026-09-16: Gildo Insfrán leads bilateral integration meeting in Paraguay Governor Gildo Insfrán participated in a bilateral meeting in Asunción to strengthen border integration and security between Paraguay and the Argentine province of Formosa. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/gildo-insfrn-leads-bilateral-integration-meeting-in-paraguay --- Cite as: Formosa border integration and security management.
