Initial sessions focused on local governance, including the completion of renovations at Praça do Renascer and proposals to ensure the daily presence of pharmacists in Primary Health Care Units (UAPS). Subsequent activities expanded to include the ‘Parla, Jovem!’ program, a simulated youth legislative session. During this program, young participants discussed projects regarding anti-racist education, mental health in schools, and the abolition of the 6x1 work schedule. Council President Leo Couto noted that specific program initiatives, such as ‘Trilha da Inovação’ and ‘Rota do Conhecimento’, have been officially sanctioned by Mayor Evandro Leitão and enacted as municipal laws. The program recently held its fourth simulated session. During this iteration, young councilors continued to debate legislative projects focused on anti-racist education and mental health support in schools, while also addressing broader national topics such as democracy and the 6x1 work schedule. Leo Couto emphasized that the program enables youth to transition from being spectators to “active participants in the construction of public policy.” ## Timeline ### 2026-10-08: Fortaleza City Council holds fourth youth legislative simulation The Fortaleza City Council held its fourth ‘Parla, Jovem!’ simulated session, where youth councilors debated education, mental health, and democracy, following the recent enactment of youth-led projects intolaw 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fortaleza-city-council-holds-fourth-simulated-youth-legislative-session ### 2026-09-25: Fortaleza City Council debates healthcare and local infrastructure The Fortaleza City Council debated healthcare improvements, human rights, and local infrastructure projects, including new sports facilities and proposals for guaranteed pharmaceutical services in health units. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fortaleza-city-council-debates-healthcare-and-local-infrastructure --- Cite as: Fortaleza City Council legislative activities.
