Footballer Fran Brodić has returned to the Croatian First Football League (HNL) by joining HNK Gorica as a free agent.

Brodić previously played for Gorica during the 2021/22 season. Following his time there, he played for Dinamo Zagreb during their 2023/24 double-winning season before moving to the Hungarian club Újpest. Brodić expressed regret regarding his departure from Dinamo Zagreb, stating that while he wished to stay, the club informed him he would be a “fourth-choice option” behind other strikers. He noted that a promised new signing never arrived, which he believes would have allowed him more playing time in the HNL and the Champions League.

After a successful period in Hungary, where he recorded nine goals and six assists, Brodić faced injuries and management changes at Újpest, leading to his eventual move back to Gorica.
