France is scheduled to host several architectural and heritage events in October 2026. The 11th edition of the National Architecture Days, organized by the Ministry of Culture, runs from October 15 to 18 under the theme “Réhabiliter : bâtir l’avenir” (Rehabilitate: building the future). The program emphasizes the environmental and social advantages of renovating existing structures, specifically addressing the ecological transition through carbon footprint reduction, energy sobriety, and the reuse of sustainable materials.

The initiative features over 1,400 activities nationwide. In Remiremont, the local Tourist Office is hosting a guided tour on October 16 to explore the city’s architectural evolution, including the train station, the former Maxonrupt school, the former synagogue, and the Abbey Palace. Other regional highlights include the CAUE de l’Ain’s visits to the Batterie du Fort de Sermenaz in Neyron and guided tours in Essonne of the François-le-Comte ice rink and the Pyramide 14.

Running simultaneously from October 15 to 18 is the fourth edition of the National Repair Days. Launched by the association Halte à l'obsolescence programmée (HOP) and the Make.org Foundation, this event includes nearly 1,500 activities aimed at encouraging citizens to extend the lifespan of electronics, clothing, and furniture. The initiative highlights the economic and environmental benefits of repair, noting that extending the life of household equipment by three years could save a household over 1,900 euros.

Following these celebrations, the 31st International Cultural Heritage Salon will take place at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris from October 29 to November 1. Themed “Patrimoine en lumières” (Heritage in lights), the salon is expected to host over 300 exhibitors from roughly ten countries.
