Developments: 3. The French first division volleyball season, known as Alterna Volstar, commenced with several opening matches. In the first recorded match, reigning champions Volley Mulhouse Alsace defeated the Nantes Neptunes 3-1. After Nantes won the second set to level the match, Mulhouse secured the victory with wins in the third and fourth sets. In a subsequent opener, Tours Volley-Ball defeated Nice Volley-Ball 3-1. Despite a summer roster overhaul for the Nice squad, Tours utilized new recruit Earvin N’Gapeth to secure the opening set and ultimately leveraged their championship experience to overcome the competition. Tourcoing also secured a season-opening victory, defeating the Centurions de Narbonne 3-0 at Léo Lagrange. Despite a major roster overhaul involving nearly 95% departures from the previous season, the team demonstrated strong chemistry and defensive strength. Captain Raphaël Pascal led the team with 6 points at the block. Coach Dorian Rougeyron highlighted the team’s “defensive density and blocking quality” as key factors in the win, marking a successful start in the Alterna Volsta 1 league. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-17: Tours Volley-Ball defeats Nice Volley-Ball in season opener Nice Volley-Ball fell 3-1 to Tours Volley-Ball in their opening match of the French first division season. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tours-volley-ball-defeats-nice-volley-ball-in-season-opener ### 2026-10-17: Tourcoing wins volleyball season opener 3-0 against Narbonne Tourcoing secured a 3-0 victory against Narbonne to start their volleyball season, overcoming a nearly complete roster turnover through strong blocking and team cohesion. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/tourcoing-wins-volleyball-season-opener-3-0-against-narbonne ### 2026-10-03: Volley Mulhouse Alsace wins season opener against Nantes Volley Mulhouse Alsace defeated the Nantes Neptunes 3-1 in their first official match of the season. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/volley-mulhouse-alsace-wins-season-opener-against-nantes --- Cite as: French women's volleyball season openers.
