The Fridays for Future movement, supported by various civic and environmental organizations, has organized a climate strike across Italy scheduled for October 16. The mobilization aims to protest government policies regarding fossil fuel extraction and to demand more effective action following extreme summer weather events.

In Rome, organizers planned an afternoon march to engage a wider demographic, including students, teachers, and various territorial protection collectives. In Genoa, a specific demonstration is set for Largo Eros Lanfranco to bring the climate crisis back to public attention. To maintain independence, organizers in Genoa stated they would exclude political party logos, electoral lists, and commercial sponsors from the event.
