Sources: 24. Developments: 4. Fulham secured their first Premier League victory of the season by defeating Hull City 1-0 at Craven Cottage. The decisive goal occurred in the 33rd minute when an Alex Iwobi shot, assisted by Sander Berge, deflected off Hull defender Lucas Herrington and beat goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis. The win provided relief for Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa, marking his first league victory since taking over in July and moving the club out of the relegation zone. The goal was Iwobi’s first of the season and his 36th in the Premier League, drawing him level with Peter Odemwingie for the sixth-highest scoring Nigerian in the competition's history. Following the match, former Premier League winner Tim Sherwood praised Iwobi, describing him as one of the most underrated players in the league due to his versatility and consistency. Fulham also finished the match with ten men following a stoppage-time red card for Ryan Sessegnon. For Hull City, the defeat extended a winless streak and left the promoted side with only one point from their last three matches. Manager Sergej Jakirović criticized the performance, describing it as “really poor” and “the worst since I have been here,” noting that the team “looked like men playing against boys.” Recent analysis has highlighted the impact of Nigerian internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey on Fulham’s success. While Iwobi has been lauded for his ability to transition between creative playmaking and wide attacking roles, Bassey has been noted for anchoring the defense to secure clean sheets through physical dominance and composure. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-22: Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey drive Fulham success Fulham's Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey are receiving acclaim for their influential roles in the Premier League, highlighted by a recent match-winning performance against Hull City. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/alex-iwobi-and-calvin-bassey-drive-fulham-success ### 2026-10-18: Fulham secure first Premier League win as Alex Iwobi scores against Hull City Alex Iwobi scored the only goal in Fulham’s 1-0 win against Hull City, securing the club’s first Premier League victory of the season and lifting them off the bottom of the table. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fulham-secure-first-premier-league-win-as-alex-iwobi-scores-against-hull-city ### 2026-10-17: Hull City suffers 1-0 defeat to Fulham Hull City lost 1-0 to Fulham, a match marked by a deflected goal and the halftime substitution of Australian defender Lucas Herrington. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/hull-city-suffers-1-0-defeat-to-fulham ### 2026-10-15: Fulham defeat Hull City 1-0 to secure first Premier League win Alex Iwobi's 33rd-minute goal led Fulham to a 1-0 victory over Hull City, securing Fulham's first Premier League win of the season and lifting them from the bottom of the table. 17 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/fulham-hosts-hull-city-at-craven-cottage-amid-search-for-first-win --- Cite as: Fulham and Hull City Premier League match.
