Sources: 2. Developments: 2. G7 officials and ministers are addressing global food security and the need for sustainable development financing. In Paris, agriculture ministers met to develop resilience strategies for food and agricultural systems, specifically targeting risks from climate change and geopolitical tensions. A major focus of these discussions is the disruption of fertilizer supplies caused by conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, which has contributed to a 13% increase in global food prices during the third quarter. French Agriculture Minister Annie Genevard stated the objective is to move ‘from shock management to building resilience’ through improved supply security and system efficiency. Building on these efforts, there is increasing pressure on G7 leaders to secure consistent funding for vulnerable communities facing drought, food insecurity, and climate disasters. As the G7 summit approaches, the group is being called upon to use its economic influence to bridge the widening gap in sustainable development financing amidst rising debt and shrinking aid budgets. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-28: G7 leaders face pressure to secure development financing G7 leaders face a critical opportunity this June to commit to stable financing for climate resilience and food security in vulnerable regions. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/g7-leaders-face-pressure-to-secure-development-financing ### 2026-10-19: G7 agriculture ministers meet in Paris to address food security G7 agriculture ministers met in Paris to address food security and fertilizer supply disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and increasing climate-related risks. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/g7-agriculture-ministers-meet-in-paris-to-address-food-security --- Cite as: G7 food security and development financing discussions.
