The Glendinning Terrace Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) facility in Galashiels remains closed following an emergency shutdown in April 2025 due to serious health and safety concerns.

Scottish Borders Council is currently reviewing the future of the site. Although a feasibility study was conducted regarding a potential reopening for the 2026-27 session, the council noted that further issues arose, leading to a continued suspension of services. Consequently, Glendinning Primary School will lack ELC provision for the 2025-26 academic year. The council is conducting community consultations and working with parents to secure alternative placements while evaluating long-term demand.
