Garry Kasparov, leader of the Free Russia Foundation (also referred to as the Free Russia Forum), has expressed his view that peace negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin are futile. In interviews with Radio Free Europe, Kasparov argued that Putin intends to destroy Ukraine as an independent state and that the ongoing war serves as an ideological foundation for his power. Kasparov has advocated for the international community to prioritize a decisive Ukrainian victory, suggesting such an outcome could lead to Putin’s downfall and foster democratic opportunities within Russia. He noted that his organization has raised approximately $15 million for projects in Ukraine and maintains contact with armed Russian volunteer groups, such as the Free Russia Legion and the Russian Volunteer Corps, fighting alongside Ukrainian forces.
