Gavi has approved a US$500 million funding package for Nigeria under its Gavi 6.0 programme for the period of 2026–2030. The allocation is intended to support routine immunisation, sustain polio eradication efforts, expand HPV vaccination, and strengthen primary health-care services.

Following discussions between Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, and Gavi CEO Dr. Sania Nishtar, officials noted that the five-year funding envelope will allow for more effective planning and delivery of vaccines to vulnerable groups. The initiative also aims to improve long-term vaccine financing and build upon recent progress in revitalising the Nigerian health system.
