Reports initially indicated that reality television personality Gemma Collins was in final discussions with ITV to join the current series of Big Brother as a guest. This potential appearance was viewed as a major twist for the series, following a stint by Jedward that contributed to strong viewing figures.

By early October, Collins was reportedly set to enter the Big Brother house as a special guest housemate. In related media appearances, Collins discussed her professional boundaries in the television industry, describing it as “showbusiness, not show… friends,” and spoke regarding the recent passing of her mother.
