One study by the Kaspersky Market Research Center indicates that this demographic is highly environmentally conscious, with 20% identifying digital infrastructure damage as a risk to future generations and 22% expressing concern over excessive consumption and waste. In contrast, data from infas quo in Germany suggests a significant gap in cybersecurity awareness. While 74% of respondents acknowledge that online fraud can affect anyone, approximately 21% believe they are personally immune. This overconfidence is most pronounced among Generation Z; 33% of 18-to-29-year-olds believe they will not fall victim to such scams, the highest rate across all age groups. Additionally, 48% of this demographic incorrectly assumes that online fraud primarily targets individuals with limited internet experience. Experts warn that this perceived invulnerability leads to increased carelessness, such as clicking links without verification. The study further notes that factors like shame and self-blame can hinder open discussions regarding phishing and payment fraud. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Online fraud survey highlights Gen Z overconfidence A survey shows that 33 percent of German adults aged 18-29 believe they are immune to online fraud, despite high general awareness of phishing risks. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/online-fraud-survey-reveals-high-levels-of-self-overestimation-among-gen-z ### 2026-10-14: Kaspersky research highlights Generation Z environmental concerns A Kaspersky study shows Generation Z is highly aware of the environmental impact of digital technology, with 20% citing digital infrastructure damage as a risk to future generations. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kaspersky-research-highlights-generation-z-environmental-concerns --- Cite as: Generation Z digital behavior and awareness.
