Turkey is expanding its use of geothermal energy for modern, soilless greenhouse farming to enhance agricultural yields and food security. In Erzincan, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı highlighted that geothermal-powered facilities can achieve yields on 30 decares equivalent to 90 decares of traditional soil-based farming, while reducing energy costs and pesticide use.

In the Afyonkarahisar region, similar geothermal greenhouse projects are being implemented to provide year-round production and create employment opportunities, particularly for local women. The project in Çobanlar is slated to begin with 65,000 square meters of enclosed area, with long-term plans to expand to 700,000 square meters to support both domestic needs and international exports.
