In early July 2026, the German Alpine Club (DAV) hosted a free introductory climbing and bouldering day on 18 July at its centres in Bad Tölz, Thalkirchen and Freimann, aiming to attract beginners and showcase its facilities.

A week later, DAV announced two major infrastructure projects. In Bad Tölz, a 16‑metre, all‑sides climbable tower will be added, raising the total to over 100 routes with 63 on the new tower, slated for a spring 2027 opening. In Tirschenreuth, an historic brewery tower is being converted into a climbing centre featuring a 14‑metre high hall with 60 indoor and 20 outdoor routes, using sustainable systems such as ice‑storage, solar‑thermal heating and photovoltaics, also planned for spring 2027.

The program comprises six sequential video lessons and a detailed PDF guide covering basic movements, technique and common beginner mistakes.
