Germany is expanding digital education through large-scale infrastructure investments and community-based literacy programs.

In Lower Saxony, state-procured tablets are being delivered to schools as part of an 800 million euro investment plan intended to reach tens of thousands of students and teachers by 2031. This includes the provision of AI-supported tools. Meanwhile, Brandenburg has moved to sign the Digitalpakt 2.0, a joint federal and state agreement. This program provides significant funding for IT infrastructure, such as high-performance WLAN networks and modern devices.

Complementing these infrastructure efforts, regional initiatives are focusing on digital literacy. In the Main-Kinzig-Kreis, adult education centers are extending online programs to provide flexible learning in areas like artificial intelligence and digital health. Additionally, Thuringia is launching a pilot voluntary digital year (FSJ Digital) to help young people develop media design and project management competencies.
