In late 2026, several long-term contracts were awarded for regional rail operations in Germany.

Eisenbahnen und Verkehrsbetriebe Elbe-Weser GmbH (evb) secured a 10-year contract to operate the RB33 regional rail line, connecting Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde, and Buxtehude. The agreement, awarded by the Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen (LNVG) and the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, will run from December 2027 to December 2037. The service will continue to utilize hydrogen-powered Alstom Coradia iLint trains.

Separately, the Rhine-Main Transport Association (RMV) awarded DB Regio the operation of S-Bahn lines S3, S4, S5, and S6. This contract extends service beyond the current expiration in December 2033, continuing until the end of 2055 for the lines between Darmstadt, Frankfurt, and Friedberg.
