The German entertainment and television landscape is facing various shifts and criticisms. Recent developments include debates over culinary authenticity on the cooking competition ‘Grill den Henssler’ and public backlash regarding the cancellation of the long-running program ‘Immer wieder sonntags’ in favor of digital offerings.

Broadcasters are also facing scrutiny regarding the future of traditional media. Entertainer Oliver Pocher has suggested that classic television is in crisis due to competition from social media and streaming services, even proposing a merger between public networks ARD and ZDF.

In other sectors of the industry, composer Ralph Siegel has announced plans to return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, while RTLZWEI has announced a new format for the eighth season of ‘Kampf der Realitystars’.
