Getafe CF has experienced a period of instability characterized by heavy defeats in both La Liga and the Conference League. Following a 4-0 loss to Athletic Bilbao and a 2-5 defeat against FC Lugano, team captain David Soria stated, “We are in a moment where the team is uncompetitive, at this moment we do not have first division level.” Manager José Bordalás also acknowledged a breaking point regarding the team's defensive consistency.

Despite these struggles in league and European play, the club secured advancement in the Copa del Rey. Getafe overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit against UD Lebrijana to win 3-2. After Pepe Tejero and Yuyo gave Lebrija an early lead, Getafe responded with goals from Abqar, Borja Mayoral, and Orel Mangala, who scored the decisive goal in the 69th minute.
