Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) has advanced its 5G spectrum auction process, moving toward a nationwide rollout to expand mobile broadband capacity. 

MTN Ghana, acting as the sole qualified applicant for the 700 MHz band, secured two lots for a total license fee of US$100.9 million. This allocation is expected to provide improved indoor coverage and wider geographic reach due to the frequency’s ability to travel longer distances.

In the 2.3 GHz band, Telecel Ghana was awarded three lots. The company indicated that this spectrum will be used to strengthen network expansion and improve service quality in preparation for its 5G rollout, supporting the growth of Ghana’s digital economy.

The assignment process for the 3 GHz band remains ongoing, with results still being determined.
